Sh Rashid files petition against arrest in LHC

LAHORE: Sheikh Rashid, the leader of the Awami Muslim League, has filed a petition with the Lahore High Court on Monday, challenging his arrest.

Sheikh Rashid’s legal representatives, Sardar Razzak and Sardar Shehbaz, submitted the plea on his behalf. The respondents in the case include the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab, the Regional Police Officer (RPO), the Chief Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) of Rawalpindi, and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations.

In the plea, it was asserted that Punjab police apprehended Sheikh Rashid without the presence of arrest warrants and have held him at an undisclosed location. The plea further noted that there are no pending charges against Sheikh Rasheed, nor is any ongoing investigation mentioned.

Sheikh Rashid arrested from Rawalpindi

The Lahore High Court has been petitioned to issue orders for Sheikh Rashid’s appearance before the court and to grant him the opportunity to exercise his legal rights.

Former Interior Minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) leader, Sheikh Rasheed, was arrested at his residence in Rawalpindi. Sardar Abdurrazaq, legal counsel for the former minister, confirmed that Sheikh Rasheed was apprehended by plain-clothes officers from his residence. He also stated that two nephews of the former Interior Minister, Sheikh Rasheed, were also arrested and taken to an undisclosed location.
