LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has achieved a remarkable feat by completing the Shahdara Flyover project in an impressive six months, surpassing the initially scheduled timeframe of 10 months.
Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the flyover on Thursday, marking the culmination of an expedited construction period.
Asrar Saeed, Chief Engineer of LDA, attributed this rapid completion to the diligent oversight and frequent visits by the caretaker CM and LDA DG, resulting in the opening of the flyover four months ahead of schedule.
At Shahdara, two 850-metre-long two-way flyovers, each boasting three lanes, have been successfully constructed, providing a crucial connection to GT Road, N-5.
Saeed emphasised that these flyovers will effectively address the longstanding traffic issues on the primary entry and exit routes of the city.
During the opening ceremony, Naqvi stated that the Shahdara Flyover Project, initiated just five months ago, now stands open for traffic.
He assured the residents of Shahdara that landscaping efforts, including the removal of soil from project surroundings and the implementation of beautiful plantation, will be undertaken in the coming days.
Expressing gratitude, Naqvi extended thanks to provincial ministers, contractors, DG LDA, the Chief Engineer LDA, the district administration, the journalist community, and other relevant authorities.
Defence Mor Flyover (Ghora Chowk Flyover)
Simultaneously, the caretaker chief minister conducted a visit to the ongoing projects, namely the Cavalry Underpass and Ghora Chowk flyover.
Accompanied by Provincial Ministers Amir Mir, Bilal Afzal, Ibrahim Hasan Murad, and IGP Dr Usman Anwar, Naqvi observed the notable progress in both ventures.
The Ghora Chowk flyover, with 75 per cent completion in shuttering and steel fixing, is advancing satisfactorily, while the Cavalry underpass has commenced asphalt work.
Naqvi, closely inspecting the placement of heavy girders on the underpass roof, emphasised the significance of these projects, noting that their completion will establish a signal-free corridor from Centre Point Gulberg to Ghora Chowk Defence Mor.
The chief minister highlighted that the beneficiaries will include residents in Gulberg, Kalma Chowk, CBD, Cantt, Cavalry Ground, DHA, and Walton.
