‘Major crackdown’ launched against plastic bags in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has announced a ‘major crackdown’ aimed at halting the use of plastic shopping bags, which are contributing to pollution.
According to Express News, to implement this crackdown, the DC Islamabad has established eight teams. These teams will conduct operations against the use of plastic bags across various areas of the city, with oversight provided by all Assistant Commissioners of Islamabad.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz emphasised that it is a collective responsibility to curb the use of polyethylene bags, which exacerbate environmental pollution.
On this occasion, the DC Islamabad appealed to citizens to support the district administration in the fight against plastic bags.
