ISLAMABAD: Due to a shortage of ink and lamination papers passport printing is facing delay causing inconvenience to the public.
According to reports, the lack of ink will further hinder the printing of both regular and expedited passports.
The situation is being attributed to mismanagement and incompetence within the Passport and Immigration Office. Sources allege that the current Director General is attempting to transform the Directorate into an authority, granting them complete control over the budget and operations.

This move, according to sources, is motivated by a desire to gain autonomy, similar to the Principal Accounting Officer in various ministries and divisions.
The Directorate has reportedly spent approximately 60 million rupees on renovations while neglecting the procurement of essential materials like ink and lamination paper.
The lack of foresight and prioritization has led to the current crisis, leaving many citizens stranded without passports.
