Sindh govt announces mobile service suspension on Chehlum

KARACHI: The Sindh home department has announced the suspension of mobile phone services in various districts and cities of the province, including Karachi on Monday, on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala.

The home department stated that mobile phone services will remain suspended along the main procession routes of Chehlum in several districts. In Karachi, the service will be suspended in the South, West, and East districts.

Mobile phone services will also be suspended in Hyderabad, Thatta, Dadu, Sujawal, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Rohri, and Larkana.

According to the Sindh home department, the suspension will be in effect from 7am until midnight.

The Sindh government has already imposed a ban on pillion riding across the province, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Larkana on the occasion of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).

The Sindh government has also banned the use of drones during Chehlum.

The main Chehlum procession will start from Nishtar Park and culminate at Husainian Iranian Imambargah after passing through designated routes.

Chehlum processions will be taken out in various cities and town in all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan to pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala.

Provincials governments, district administrations and police have thrashed out elaborate arrangements to provide security to the participants of the Chehlum processions.
