Sindh Govt announces public holiday on May 1

KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on May 1 (Wednesday) on the account of Labour Day.

According to a notification, the public holiday will be for all the government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government except essential services.

While the federal government has yet to announce this year’s holiday, Employees of government and private organizations are waiting for an official announcement of the holiday.

Labour Day is observed all over the world on May 1 in memory of the Chicago workers who were killed by police while striking for an eight-hour workday in 1886.
