KARACHI: The Sindh government has finalised preparations for Independence Day, announcing a province-wide celebration with events to be held at district, town, and union council levels.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon chaired a key meeting in Karachi to review arrangements. Ministers Nasir Hussain Shah, Saeed Ghani, and Zulfiqar Shah were among the participants. The meeting focused on ensuring participation from every segment of society, including special children, minorities, women, and senior citizens.

The government decided that central events will be organised in every district. Local government bodies have been directed to hold programs at union council and ward levels. Public rallies, national song evenings, youth sports competitions, and cultural performances such as poetry recitals, qawwali nights, and theater will be part of the schedule.

Speaking after the meeting, Sharjeel Memon said, “All segments [of the society] will be included in the events. We will remain committed to the mission of democracy, development, and national unity.”

Sindh Culture Minister Zulfiqar Shah announced that special shows will be held in collaboration with local artists and community groups. Saeed Ghani confirmed that all local councils have been instructed to carry out activities in their respective areas.

Nasir Hussain Shah added that the celebrations will also include tree planting, public service initiatives, cleanliness drives, and blood donation camps.
