Sindh MDCAT test update: exam papers transported under maximum security

KARACHI: Exam paper of National Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) have been transported IBA Sukkur to Karachi examination centre under maximum security.

Papers are being opened in front of media representatives under the supervision of IBA Sukkur, said the institute’s spokesperson, on Sunday.

The boxes of exam papers have been sealed in various ways, IBA Sukkur Vice Chancellor Dr. Asif Sheikh confirmed, adding that all possible steps have been taken to ensure that the exam paper is not leaked.

MDCAT for all colleges across Sindh are being held today across centers in six cities. These include Sukkur, Karachi, Jamshoro, Larkana, Nawabshah and Hyderabad. The spokesperson said that 38,683 candidates will appear in today’s test. Out of these 5,586 candidates will take the test in Sukkur Public School, 4,802 in Larkana Police Training Center, 6,400 in Karachi’s NED University, and 6,449 in the University of Karachi.

Moreover, 6,254 candidates will take the test in Mehran University in Jamshoro and 2,786 candidates will take the test in Quaid-e-Awam University in Nawabshah.

IBA Sukkur Vice Chancellor Dr Asif Sheikh spoke to media on Sunday morning, saying “Trunks [of exam papers] from Sukkur IBA were transported to Karachi under tight security. Help was sought from Sindh Police for vehicle security.”

He said that exam papers are in sealed bags in these trunks, and the trunks are also sealed and locks installed. “Paper getting leaked had become a joke, which put the future of students at stake.” He said that mafias were involved in paper leaks, and now with the maximum security, they found ways to post fake exam papers online.

“Lies and wrong papers were posted on social media. The trunks and exam papers will also be checked through signal detectors before opening,” he said, adding that IBC Sukkur will ensure that students get fair treatment.

He said that the exam papers were transported through the night and it will be made sure that deserving students are not wronged.
