Earlier the central spokesperson of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Shazia Marri, had said that the “party rejects the 18 per cent tax on solar panels”. She also said that the party considers increase in salaries and pensions “insufficient”.

Shazia Marri said that after the announcement of the federal budget, people only had the option to use solar panels to avoid expensive electricity bills. She said that with these taxes, now that options has also been taken away from the people. “We reject the 18 per cent tax on solar panels,” she added.

She pointed out that the increase in salaries and pensions is also insufficient at the prevalent inflation levels. “It is a joke that only Rs 15 billion has been allocated for the Hyderabad-Karachi Motorway,” Marri added.
