Sindh schools resume classes as winter break concludes

Sindh Schools

KARACHI: After a winter break of more than a week, schools across Sindh reopened on Monday, putting an end to speculation about the resumption of academic activities.

The Government of Sindh has emphatically stated that there is no extension to the winter vacations in the province, refuting a fake notification that had been circulating on social media.

The misleading notification had caused confusion among parents regarding the reopening of schools. Dr. Shireen Mustafa, Secretary School Education Sindh, clarified that the circulated notification about an extension in winter holidays is fraudulent.

Winter vacations extended till January 9 in Punjab

The official decision, aligned with the Steering Committee in Sindh, confirms the reopening of schools on the initially scheduled date of January 1, 2024.

It’s crucial to note that Sindh had initially announced winter vacations from December 22 to December 31, 2023. Parents and students are urged to disregard the false notification and adhere to the original schedule for the resumption of school activities.

As per the new academic schedule, the new academic year for schools will start on April 15, 2024, whereas colleges will commence their academic activities from August 1 2024.

Matric 2024 exams will be held in the first week of May, and intermediate exams are slated for the last week of May.
