Born on April 24, 1934, in Hyderabad Deccan, Ahmed Rushdi’s musical journey traversed borders as he migrated to Pakistan post-independence. His melodious voice echoed in numerous languages including Urdu, English, Punjabi, Bengali, Sindhi, and Gujarati, enchanting audiences across diverse cultural landscapes.

Rushdi’s illustrious career saw him record approximately 5000 songs for 583 films, a feat unparalleled in the annals of Pakistani cinema. His versatility and mastery over various genres endeared him to listeners, earning him a special place in the hearts of music enthusiasts.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the realm of music, Rushdi was posthumously awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s prestigious civilian honour, two decades after his demise.

Ahmed Rushdi breathed his last on April 11, 1983, in Karachi, leaving behind a rich tapestry of melodies that continue to resonate with audiences, transcending the confines of time and space.
