Six drowned, 15 missing as vehicle plunges into Neelum River

KARIMABAD : Six people were killed and three injured when a motorcar plunged into Neelum River near Karimabad area of Neelum Valley on Sunday, officials said.
According to District Disaster Management Authority officials, a vehicle carrying 24 people was traveling from Neelum Valley, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, to Taobut when it slid off the road and fell into Neelum River.

Officials confirmed that six people have drowned, 15 people are still missing. Out of the six deceased three were tourists while three were nomads. Bodies of a tourist couple were identified as Javed Akhtar and Saima Shabnam residents of Multan who were on a tour to the area.
A senior police officer stated that retrieving the vehicle from the swiftly flowing Neelum River was proving to be a challenge but search is continuing for the missing people.
He expressed suspicion that the missing people might still be trapped inside the submerged vehicle.
