Snowfall in Neelum Valley: all connecting roads blocked

MUZAFFARABAD: Continuous snowfall in Neelum Valley and its surrounding areas has led to the closure of all connecting roads, causing inconvenience to the locals as well as tourists who have become stranded.

In the Neelum Valley and surrounding areas, including Keran, Grace, Halmat, Taobat, and Sardari, road closures due to snowfall have caused significant difficulties for residents, with patients facing challenges in being transported to hospitals.

Islamabad welcomes first winter rain

The Neelum Highway has been restored for traffic from Chalhana to Sharda however, the road from Kel to Grace Valley in Neelum Valley remains closed. The road leading to Taobat in Neelum Valley is also blocked at various points.

In charge of the Disaster Management Authority, Akhtar Ayub has advised tourists to avoid unnecessary travel and asked drivers in upper Neelum should use snow chains during travel.

He also advised drivers to keep speed very low, drive in heavy gear, and minimise the use of brakes.

According to the met department, Kel has recorded 5-6 inches of snow, Janawai 10 inches, and Sharda 2-4 inches of snowfall.
