LAHORE: For the first time in the country’s history, it has been decided to run special buses for rural women in Punjab.

In this regard, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sought a comprehensive plan for inter-village transport for the transportation of rural women and reviewed the proposal to start a mass transit system consisting of 25 buses in remote districts in phases.

On the instructions of Maryam Nawaz, Punjab’s first women’s transport solution plan will be prepared and bus service will be started from every rural tehsil to the district headquarters.

On this occasion, Maryam Nawaz directed immediate steps to provide subsidy to women passengers in the mass transit system and said that modern transport system is also the right of women living in villages.

The lack of a transport system is very painful for rural women, this will facilitate the transportation of female students and female patients, she said.
