Special court postpones cipher case hearing till November 21

ISLAMABAD: In a development at Adiala Jail, the special court judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain has adjourned the hearing of cipher case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

The session, which took place under tight security, was halted without further proceedings and is now slated to resume on November 21.

Barrister Taimur Malik, the legal representative for Shah Mehmood Qureshi, was present at Adiala Jail, along with Qureshi’s wife Mehreen Qureshi and daughter Mehr Bano Qureshi. Wife of PTI chairman Bushra Bibi, and sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khanum were also present.

Special Court Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain arrived at Adiala Jail to preside over the proceedings, but the hearing was abruptly adjourned. Federal investigation Agency (FIA) Special Prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi, addressing the media, disclosed that the postponement was in compliance with the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) prohibition order. Notably, no witnesses were presented by the prosecution during the session.
