Assuring that justice will be served to the family of the young victim, Caretaker CM Maqbool Baqar affirmed the government’s commitment to conducting a thorough inquiry and bringing the culprits to justice.
In a recent development, a police picket has been stationed near the burial site of the minor girl, Fatima, after the court granted permission for the exhumation of her grave.
Local law enforcement swiftly responded to reports of suspicious activity near the victim’s gravesite. In response to a plea to the court seeking permission to exhume the grave, the family expressed concerns about potential tampering with the resting place of Fatima and the possibility of her remains going missing.
To ensure the preservation of any possible evidence and the sanctity of Fatima’s grave, a temporary police picket has been established at the burial site, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rohail Khoso.
Earlier, Khairpur’s judicial magistrate granted a 4-day physical remand of Pir Asad Shah Jeelani, a member of the influential Pirs of Ranipur, in connection with the alleged torture of an underage domestic worker in Sindh’s Ranipur.
Pir Asad Shah Jeelani, the prime suspect, was apprehended by Khairpur Police following accusations of torturing his 10-year-old maid, Fatima Furiro, which ultimately led to her tragic death.
The suspect appeared before Judicial Magistrate Sobho Dero, where the police requested a 15-day physical remand; however, the magistrate granted a 4-day physical remand and sent the accused to jail.
The issue came to public attention when distressing video clips showing severe torture marks on Fatima’s body surfaced on social media. The heartbreaking footage depicts the grievously injured girl attempting to sit up on her bed but collapsing soon after.
