Speedy justice: SC disposes of 8000 cases in 100 days

ISLAMABAD: Under the leadership of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan has disposed of over 8000 cases over the last 100 days.
The SC has demonstrated increased resolve by deciding 8,174 cases while receiving 4,963 new cases from October 28,2024 till February 6, 2025. reducing the backlog of pending cases, according to an official statement.
A total of 4,963 new cases were registered in the apex court during this period, the statement added.
LHC imposes Rs 10,000 fine for washing cars at home
The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) reviewed 46 complaints filed against judges.
Out of these, 40 complaints have been disposed of, the statement said.
The Judicial Council has sought preliminary responses from five judges regarding five complaints.
Further details have been requested in one complaint against a judge, according to the statement.
The court’s efforts to dispose of cases more quickly have been part of an effort to reduce the backlog of cases and improve the court system.
