State bank announces ‘bank holiday’ on Monday

ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan has declared a bank holiday on Monday, January 1, 2024. All banks across the country will remain closed on Monday, as they will be concluding the financial year that ends on December 31.

“The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed for public dealing on Monday, January 01, 2024, which will be observed as ‘Bank Holiday’. All banks / DFIs / MFBs shall, therefore, remain closed for public dealing on the aforementioned date. However, all employees of the banks / DFIs / MFBs will attend the office as usual.,” the press release issued by state bank read.

No notification regarding the extension of winter vacations in Punjab schools

Separately, the SBP has directed all banks to remain operational throughout the weekend to facilitate tax collection via alternative delivery channels.

Banking hours are scheduled until 5 pm on December 30 (Saturday), and on December 31 (Sunday), they will be extended until 8 pm.

The SBP observes a bank holiday on the 1st of July, the first day of Ramadan, and January 1st every year.
