Stock Market adds 300 points ahead of election day

KARACHI: On Tuesday (today), after the long weekend, the stock market continued the momentum from Friday, posting 265 points gains within an hour of trading. The index was seen hovering at 63,268.28 points around 10 AM.

Friday, the final trading day of the outgoing week had brought some gains for the benchmark KSE-100 index. The market opened at 62,393.73 points and by closing time, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) had reached 63,002.91 points.

Stock Market continues momentum from Friday

Wednesday, the day before general elections, the index showed positivity and stability with slow and steady growth after opening at 63,799.01 points. By 11 AM, the index was seen hovering at 64,118.66 points, 319.65 points above opening level.

Bulk of the growth in the index early in the yesterday came from E&P companies, which continued the momentum today as well. However, PIA was trading in red yesterday but today it pulled up to green as well.
