Suicide attack foiled

RAWALPINDI: Security forces thwarted a suicide attack in Qilla Abdullah district of Balochistan and killed five Khawarij militants.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Khawarij attempted to attack a security checkpoint in the Qilla Abdullah district before it was intercepted and foiled.

Following the failure of their attack, the Khawarij rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the checkpoint’s wall. In the ensuing exchange of fire, five militants, including two suicide bombers, were killed, the ISPR said.

The ISPR said that two security personnel, Naik Tahir Khan and Lance Naik Tahir Iqbal, were martyred during the intense gunfight.

A clearance operation is ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining threats.

The ISPR reaffirmed the security forces’ commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country, saying that the sacrifices of their soldiers strengthen their resolve.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti praised the bravery of security forces in foiling the attack in Gulistan, Qilla Abdullah. “Thwarting the militants’ attack is a testament to the bravery of our forces. Two valiant sons of the soil sacrificed their lives and set an example of heroism,” he said.

He said that the sacrifices of security personnel bolster the nation’s determination to fight terrorism.

“The militants have been sent to their rightful fate. We stand with the families of the martyrs, and their sacrifices will always be remembered. The nefarious designs of terrorists on Balochistan’s soil will never succeed,” he said.

The Balochistan chief minister directed to intensify the ongoing operations against terrorists. He said that eradicating terrorism is Pakistan’s top priority.
