Suitcase-packed dead body of woman found in Karachi

KARACHI: In Liaquatabad, Karachi, the lifeless body of an unidentified woman was discovered inside a suitcase near the Chuna Depot stream, as reported by local authorities.

Preliminary investigations revealed that an unidentified man and woman arrived at the scene in a rickshaw, abandoned the suitcase containing the woman’s remains, and swiftly fled the area. The police, who found visible signs of torture on the victim’s body, have yet to ascertain the identity of the deceased.

Law enforcement officials suspect that after committing the heinous crime, the perpetrators concealed their actions by stuffing the victim’s body into the suitcase and discarding it. Subsequently, the victim’s body was transported to a local hospital for a post-mortem examination.

In a separate incident within Karachi, dacoits fatally shot a 72-year-old elderly man. According to reports, a young man had withdrawn a substantial sum of money from a bank in Qasba Islamia Colony and hastily returned to his residence.

Upon reaching his doorstep, the young man raised an alarm, claiming that he was being pursued by dacoits on a motorcycle. Startled by his cries, his grandfather rushed to the door to assist. As he unlocked the door, the armed dacoits opened fire, fatally wounding the elderly man, who tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The assailants also looted Rs1 million from the house during the incident.

CCTV footage of the incident later surfaced, shedding light on the details of the attack.

Meanwhile, Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retired) Maqbool Baqar expressed deep concern regarding the escalating crime rate in Karachi. He emphasized that the rising crime levels were indicative of the police force’s need to refocus their efforts on combating crime within the metropolis.

As a result, the caretaker Chief Minister has called upon the Inspector General and Additional Inspector General of Sindh to provide a comprehensive report detailing the actions taken against criminals in the past 24 hours.
