Sunday to be cold and dry; some rain likely in the mountains

WEB DESK: The weather is likely to remain cold and dry in most of the plains of the country on Sunday, predicts the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

However, light rain with strong winds and light snowfall on the mountains may occur at a few places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and adjacent hilly areas in the morning hours. Moreover, light to moderate fog is expected in northeastern Punjab in the morning hours, says PMD.

Going region by region, in Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather is likely to remain cold and dry on Sunday.

In the plains of Punjab, the weather is likely to remain cold and dry. While Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas will likely partly cloudy in the morning hours, and light rain and perhaps light snowfall may occur at a few places.

Light to moderate fog is also predicted for Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala and Mandi Bahauddin in the morning hours.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in addition to the cold and partly cloudy weather in most districts of the province, light rain is expected at a few places in Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Battagram. Light snowfall on the hills is also expected in the morning hours.

Likewise, in Sindh, the weather will remain dry and cold in most districts of the province.

In Balochistan too, the weather will remain cold and dry in most districts of the province, while it will remain extremely cold in the northern districts.

In addition to the partly cloudy weather in Kashmir, light rain and light snowfall are expected in the morning hours.

Similarly, in Gilgit-Baltistan the weather is expected to remain extremely cold and partly cloudy.

Yesterday (Saturday), the minimum temperatures were recorded in Layyah at -10°C, Kalat at -8°C, Gupis at -7°C, Kalam at -6°C, Quetta at -5°C, Bagrot and Astor at -4°C, and Hunza, Dir, Murree, Parachinar and Skardu at -3 °C.
