Sunday weather: cold, dry with a chance of rain

WEB DESK: On Sunday, the weather will remain cold and dry in most parts of the country, predicts Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). However, in the evening or later in the night, some areas may get rain with strong winds and thunderstorms, while the mountains up in the north may receive some light snowfall as well.

Going region by region, PMD predicts that Islamabad and its surrounding areas will get cold and partly cloudy weather on Sunday. In the evening hours, however, there is a 40 per cent probability of rain as well.

In Punjab as well, the weather will remain cold and dry in most districts of the province. In the early morning hours, smog and fog is still expected in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Hafizabad, Jhang, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal, Khanewal, and Rahim Yar Khan. Some areas may also get rain in the evening including the Pothohar region, Bhakkar, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, DG Khan, Layyah, Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the weather will remain cold and partly cloudy in most districts of the province, says PMD. However, light rain with strong winds and thundershowers, and perhaps light snowfall in the mountains is likely at a few places in Waziristan, Kohat, Karak, Kurram, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand and Mansehra.

Sindh, on the other hand, will remain dry, but smog is expected in Kashmore, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Tando Jam and surrounding areas in the morning.

In Balochistan, the weather will remain dry in most districts of the province. However, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds and thunderstorms Sibi, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Khuzdar, Quetta, Ziarat, Pishin, Zhob, Sherani, Kohlu, Musa Khel, Barkhan, Naseerabad, Loralai and Makran. The mountainous regions of the province may also see snowfall.

In addition to being cloudy in Gilgit-Baltistan, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds and thunderstorms at a few places in the evening hours, with the mountains receiving snowfall over the weekend.

In Kashmir, in addition to the weather being cloudy, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds and thunderstorms at a few places in the evening. Mountains in Kashmir will also see some snowfall on Sunday.
