Sunday weather: Exciting stormy, rainy conditions ahead!


Residents across Pakistan should brace for an exciting weekend of weather featuring wind-thunderstorms, hail and lightning on Sunday.

ISLAMABAD: Residents across Pakistan should brace for an exciting weekend of weather featuring wind-thunderstorms, hail and lightning on Sunday.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a warning that such conditions may pose a risk to “loose structures”, including electric poles, trees, vehicles and solar panels.

Sunday forecast

In Islamabad, Rawalpindi and the surrounding regions, residents can expect partly cloudy skies with rain accompanied by windstorms and thunderstorms.

The forecast indicates a 45 per cent chance of isolated hail and heavy rainfall during this period. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 33 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels around 40 per cent, making for a rather refreshing environment of suffocating heat.

Balochistan weather

In the south-western province of Balochistan, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most districts. Zhob, Musakhel, Barkhan, Kohlu, Sherani, Loralai, Khuzfar, Lasbela and Awaran can look forward to rain and wind-thunderstorms.

The maximum temperatures in Nokundi is expected to soar to 41 degrees Celsius while Sibbi may reach a sizzling 44 degrees Celsius.

Sindh

Our southern brethren are also set to experience a mix of weather, with most districts forecasted to experience hot and dry conditions. However, residents in upper and central Sindh may see partly cloudy skies with isolated rain-wind or thunderstorms in places such as Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, and Jacobabad.

In Hyderabad, temperatures are expected to peak at 41 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels of 34 per cent.

Punjab weather

Meanwhile, folks in Punjab should gear up for a delightful blend of weather, with partly cloudy skies and rain-windstorms expected in cities such as Murree, Lahore and Faisalabad.

Isolated hail and heavy rainfall may also occur, providing a much-needed relief from the heat, and reinvigorating business profits of car window repairers.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s weather

Meanwhile, the forecast for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa calls for partly cloudy weather with rain-windstorms and thunderstorms in regions including Waziristan, Peshawar and Abbottabad. Isolated hail and heavy rainfall are also likely.

Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir weather

In Gilgit-Baltistan, expect partly cloudy weather with rain-wind or thunderstorms likely at isolated places.

Similarly, Kashmir is set to experience cloudy weather with rain-wind or thunder, along with the possibility of hail and heavy rainfall at select few areas.
