Sunday weather: rain, gusty winds to hit Islamabad, KP and Punjab

WEB DESK: Rain accompanied by gusty winds and thundershowers is likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Islamabad, and Gilgit-Baltistan, Sunday weather prediction by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.

During this period, heavy rainfall is also expected at isolated locations in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Islamabad, the Pothohar region, and northeast Punjab. Rain with gusty winds and thundershowers is also forecast for parts of south Punjab, northeast and south Balochistan, and southeast Sindh during the evening and night hours.

Going region by region, in Islamabad and surrounding areas, cloudy conditions are expected with the possibility of gusty winds and thundershowers, including heavy rainfall.

In Punjab, partly cloudy weather is expected across most districts, while rain with strong winds and thundershowers may occur in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Mianwali, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, and Narowal, with heavy rainfall likely at some locations.

Rain is also expected in Bhakkar, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Rajanpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan during the evening and night.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain with strong winds and thundershowers is expected in several areas including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan. Heavy rainfall is possible in the upper districts of the province.

In Sindh, partly cloudy and humid weather is likely in most districts, though rain with strong winds and thundershowers is expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Mithi, Padidan, Badin, and surrounding areas during the evening and night.

Balochistan, too, will see partly cloudy and humid conditions in most areas, while evening and night rainfall with gusty winds and thunderstorms is forecast in Barkhan, Zhob, Musa Khel, Quetta, Ziarat, Loralai, Kohlu, Sibi, Dera Bugti, Kalat, Lasbela, and Khuzdar.

In Kashmir, partly cloudy weather is expected with rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms likely, along with heavy rain in some areas during the evening and night. Similar conditions are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan as well, PMD said.
