WEB DESK: A rainy weather system is set to affect various parts of Pakistan on Sunday, with forecasts of strong winds and thunderstorms in some regions as well.

Going region by region, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that the weather will remain partly cloudy in Islamabad and surrounding areas, with a chance of rain and thundershowers. Some locations may also experience heavy rain or hailstorms.

The capital city, along with Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, and other areas in Punjab, will likely witness intense weather conditions as well. Rain and thunderstorms are predicted across most districts of Punjab, including Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur. Heavy rainfall and hail may occur in some places, causing localised disruptions.

Moving towards northern Pakistan, the weather conditions are likely to become more intense. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including areas like Peshawar, Abbottabad, and Mardan, will face weather conditions of strong winds and heavy thundershowers. A few districts in the region, such as Dir, Chitral, and Swat, could also experience hailstorms. The northern regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir will also remain under the threat of strong winds and rain, with possible hailstorms in isolated areas.

In contrast, the weather in southern side, Sindh and Balochistan is likely to be the opposite. Sindh is expected to stay hot and dry, with Karachi and surrounding coastal areas like Mithi and Thatta experiencing partly cloudy skies and a chance of rain and wind.

Meanwhile, Balochistan will experience dry weather in most parts, though there is a possibility of rain with strong winds and thundershowers in the coastal areas of Lasbela, Awaran, and Makran.

PMD also warned that outside of the regions mentioned for rainfall, the rest of the country will continue to face dry and hot conditions, which may increase the risk of heat-related health concerns. In both cases – heatwave and thunderstorms – residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions, particularly in areas where heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected.
