Supreme Court issues clarification regarding airport search of Justice Isa’s wife

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday issued a clarification stating that Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa and his wife did not request exemption from airport searches.

The court has directed the Ministry of Aviation to provide full disclosure of facts related to the matter.

In a letter addressed to the ministry, Shahid Kamboyo from the Supreme Court’s Public Relations Office stated that Justice Isa opted not to utilize the VIP lounge and luxury limousine services at the airport.

“Departing from Pakistan, on 16 December 2023, Mrs Isa herself went into the cubicle of the ASF and was searched by a lady officer; the recording by cameras installed at the airport will confirm this; no
exemption sought, nor given,” the letter added.

“Justice Isa was offered, but declined, the use of the VIP lounge at
Islamabad Airport.”
