Suspect dies in police custody

ISLAMABAD: A suspect named Khurram Masih, arrested in a narcotics case, died while in the custody of Bhara Kahu Police, according to officials.

He was being shifted to jail on judicial remand when the incident occurred.

According to police sources, Khurram had undergone a medical checkup and was declared “fit for judicial custody” before being transferred.

However, his health reportedly deteriorated at the jail gate.

Jail authorities instructed that he be moved to the hospital immediately, but Khurram passed away on the way.

Police spokesperson confirmed that a postmortem is being conducted by a medical board, and further legal proceedings are underway as per the law.
