ISLAMABAD: The federal capital, Islamabad, is facing another extremely hot day, with temperatures expected to hit 42°C over the weekend.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the weather in Islamabad will remain hot and dry, offering no signs of immediate relief.
Humidity levels stand at 48 percent. Early this morning, the minimum temperature in Islamabad was recorded at 27°C. By midday, it had already reached 30°C, and continues to rise steadily.
The heatwave is spreading across the country, with Sindh, South Punjab, and Balochistan particularly affected. In the southern regions, temperatures are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees above normal.
Upper Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may see temperatures climb up to 7 degrees higher than usual.
Turbat is likely to be the hottest place today, with the mercury possibly touching 50°C. In Nokundi, Dadu, Sukkur, and Dera Ghazi Khan, temperatures could reach up to 49°C.
Dera Ismail Khan, Nawabshah, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Sibi may see temperatures as high as 47°C.
Karachi is expected to reach 38°C, while Quetta and Gwadar could both hit 40°C. Rawalpindi is likely to record 41°C. In Lahore and Hyderabad, temperatures may touch 43°C. Peshawar and Bannu could go as high as 45°C. Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Sahiwal may see the mercury rising to 46°C.
The Met Office has already issued a heatwave warning for most parts of the country, predicting extreme temperatures to last until May 20.
The Met Office has advised citizens to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours, drink plenty of water, and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun to prevent heat-related health risks.
