Terrorism attempt at Adiala Jail foiled

RAWALPINDI: A terrorism attempt at Adiala Jail was thwarted, with police apprehending three suspected terrorists.

According to details, collaborative effort between the police and the Counter Terrorism Department led to the apprehension of three individuals suspected of terrorism.

Alongside the arrests, authorities seized a significant cache of weapons, including firearms, ammunition, and a detailed map of Adiala Jail.

Syed Khalid Hamdani, the Chief Police Officer (CPO) of Rawalpindi, emphasized the gravity of the situation, highlighting that the operation had potentially thwarted a major catastrophe at Adiala Jail.

According to Hamdani, the arrested individuals hail from Afghanistan. Among the items confiscated from their possession were hand grenades, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and automatic firearms. The suspects have since been relocated to a secure facility for further investigation.

Hamdani also underscored the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies, including police, in conducting thorough search operations in and around Adiala Jail to ensure the safety and security of the area.
