Terrorist attack on police station in DI Khan claims 10 lives

DI KHAN: In a harrowing incident in Dera Ismail Khan, terrorists launched a brazen attack on the police station in Tehsil Daraban, in the wee hours of Monday, resulting in a tense standoff with law enforcement.

The attack resulted in ten policemen martyred and six more injured. The injured officers from the District Police and the Elite Police received immediate medical care.

The martyrs include Muhammad Aslam, Ghulam Fareed, Muhammad Javed, Muhammad Idris, Muhammad Imran, Safdar, ASI Kausar, Ahtram Syed, Rafiullah and Hameed-ul-Haq.

The assailants targeted the facility with hand grenades, and also opened fire on police personnel. Snipers targeted the police officers deployed on the rooftop of the police station. The exchange of gunfire between the police and the assailants persisted for an arduous two and a half hours.

Police line has dispatched a substantial number of personnel to reinforce the Daraban police station. The Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also promptly left for Daraban to assess the situation firsthand and coordinate efforts to neutralize the threat.
