Terrorist attack on Shangla checkpost thwarted by police

PESHAWAR: Security forces foiled a late-night terrorist attack on a police checkpost in Shangla district. According to a police spokesperson, heavily armed foreign militants targeted the checkpost, leading to an exchange of fire between the attackers and law enforcement personnel. Due to the timely response of the police, the terrorists were forced to retreat.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hamid, commended the bravery of the Shangla police and announced cash rewards and commendation certificates for the officers: “The Shangla police have demonstrated full capability in countering terrorism and stood firm like an iron wall and foiled the attack.”

He added that the police remain fully prepared to respond to any terrorist activity in the region.

No casualties were reported among security forces during the encounter and authorities have launched a search operation to track down the fleeing militants.
