WEB DESK: Security forces killed 30 foreign militants in a series of operations in Orakzai district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations were conducted in the Jamal Maya area of Orakzai, where key facilitators linked to recent militant attacks were eliminated. The ISPR added that the militants killed were the Khawarij, Indian-sponsored foreign terrorists involved in assaults on Pakistan Army officers and soldiers. The statement said clearance operations were continuing in the area to ensure the complete elimination of remaining threats. “Pakistan’s armed forces remain determined to root out Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country,” the ISPR said.
Enough is enough — PM vows decisive action against terrorism
On October 7, Lieutenant Colonel Junaid Tariq, Major Tayyab Rahat, and several other soldiers were martyred in an attack by militants in Orakzai. The latest operations, the ISPR added, were part of a sustained response to those attacks.
PM, army chief attend Orakzai martyrs’ funerals
Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned of a decisive crackdown on terrorism, telling the federal cabinet the nation can no longer delay action against militancy. He stressed immediate measures are needed, or other efforts will be wasted. Referring to recent attacks, he praised lieutenant colonel Junaid and major Tayyab, noting Junaid’s bravery in eliminating 19 militants before being martyred along with comrades, and he attended major Sibtain Haider’s funeral.
PM Shehbaz said families expressed pride despite their loss and lamented that precious lives are being lost daily. He criticised elements providing safe havens to militants across borders and condemned those who praise such groups. Stressing national unity, he vowed no one will be allowed to cross the line protecting Pakistan, warning that continued terrorism would undo governmental, parliamentary and diplomatic gains. He affirmed confidence in military leadership and vowed to eliminate the Khawarij menace, urging decisions to end the cycle of violence.
