Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has been placed on high alert as security forces bolster their presence across the region following a threat alert issued by the Ministry of Interior. Concerns loom over potential terrorist activities, prompting authorities to take proactive measures to safeguard the area.

GB Home Minister Shamsul Haq Lone spoke to media and said that the Federal Ministry of Interior has raised alarms about possible attacks by the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). In response, the GB government has been directed to ramp up security measures promptly.
The timing of the alert, as highlighted by Lone, coincides with the final stretch of Ramadan, a period marked by heightened religious gatherings such as Friday prayers and Eid festivities.
Lone said that he is holding meetings with the law enforcement agencies and with Gilgit-Baltistan inspector general of police, to strategise and reinforce security protocols.
