ISLAMABAD: A fresh spell of rain, wind, and thunderstorms, along with isolated hailstorms, is expected across Pakistan from today till May 12, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The forecast comes as a result of a westerly weather system and incoming moisture-laden winds. The system will first hit the upper and central regions and later move southwards, PMD said in an advisory.
The Met Office warned of heavy downpours and hail in some areas. It advised local authorities to stay alert.
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, and Lahore are expected to receive thunderstorms and isolated hail till May 11. Rain will also hit southern Punjab, including Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur, between May 8 and 10.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and Poonch, rainfall and thunderstorms—accompanied by hail—are likely from May 8 to 12.
Gilgit-Baltistan districts such as Diamir, Astore, Skardu, Hunza, and Gilgit will also face similar conditions during the same period.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, areas like Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Peshawar may face heavy rains from May 7 night to May 12. Southern KP, including D.I. Khan and Waziristan, is also expected to be affected from May 8 to 10.

In Balochistan, rain is predicted in Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, and Lasbela between May 8 and 10.
Rain and thunderstorms are also likely in parts of Sindh, including Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, and Tharparkar, from the evening of May 8 till May 10.
PMD has warned that strong winds and hail could damage infrastructure—especially power lines, trees, and solar panels. Farmers have been asked to adjust wheat harvesting schedules in light of the forecast.
Authorities in all affected regions have been urged to take precautionary steps and stay on high alert.
