ISLAMABAD: The Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan has announced to call of its week-long protest sit-in at Faizabad interchange after successful negotiation with the government.
The TLP had been protesting against Israeli aggression at the Faizabad interchange connecting Rawalpindi with Islamabad.
The TLP announced to call off its sit-in after successful negotiation with Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, Adviser to PM on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, Islamabad inspector-general and others.
TLP chief Saad Rizvi had been demanding that medical and food aid be sent to Palestine and that Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Netanyahu be officially declared a terrorist.
The TLP said earlier that several of its members had been part of negotiations with a government team, which comprises Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, Adviser to PM on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, Islamabad inspector-general and deputy inspector-general.
A large number of protesters at the Faizabad Interchange have effectively blocked the Islamabad Expressway, causing difficulty for commuters and creating gridlocks in the area.
After the successful negotiation, Rana Sanaullah stated that TLP’s sit-in was in protest against Israeli aggression towards Palestinians.
He noted that the TLP’s demands focused on supporting oppressed Palestinians, an effort the government had already been pursuing. The recent negotiations have strengthened these efforts, with the government pledging continued support for the Palestinian cause, he said.
“Israel has emerged as a terrorist state committing war crimes,” Sanaullah said, adding that over a thousand tons of food and other supplies would be sent to Gaza. He emphasized the importance of international action, calling for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be brought to justice and urging the Muslim Ummah and the global community to help stop the oppression of Palestinians.
“A committee has been formed to boycott Israeli products, and the government has expressed solidarity with Palestinian Muslims, committing to take all necessary steps to prevent further atrocities. The government is also sending medical supplies to the injured in Palestine and offering facilities for Palestinian students wishing to come to Pakistan.”
Sanaullah condemned the forces involved in the oppression of Palestinians and thanked the TLP leadership for highlighting this critical issue.
