Top business leaders meet Field Marshal Asim Munir

RAWALPINDI: Key figures from the business community held an important meeting with Field Marshal General Asim Munir and briefed him on the current economic situation and future challenges facing the country.

The delegation was led by former caretaker federal minister Gohar Ejaz. Other participants included Chairman APTMA Kamran Arshad, SM Tanveer, and the presidents of FPCCI and Lahore Chamber of Commerce.

During the meeting with army chief Asim Munir, Gohar Ejaz conveyed the business community’s support for the economic policies of the current government. He stressed the need for more business-friendly measures to improve the economy.

Ejaz emphasised that economic stability is vital and called for swift action on structural reforms. He also highlighted the need to reduce interest rates in line with inflation to encourage investment and business activity.

The former minister also urged the government to address concerns raised by the business sector regarding the federal budget and stressed the importance of fulfilling promises to strengthen the export-led economy.

He further called for special steps to revive the cotton industry and support farmers, terming it essential for boosting the country’s agriculture sector.
