Torture case: victim girl’s father spurns judge’s reconciliation offer

ISLAMABAD: The father of the underage domestic helper, Rizwana, who was allegedly subjected to torture by the wife of Civil Judge Asim Hafeez, has refused to accept the reconciliation offer from the judge.
According to Jang, Hafeez on Tuesday approached the victim’s father showing willingness to bear all the expenses for the girl’s treatment and additional financial support.
However, the victim’s mother said that they want justice for their daughter and punishment for those responsible for torturing their minor daughter.
She also said that their daughter’s condition was very critical.
Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police on Tuesday registered a case against Somia, the wife of Civil Judge Asim Hafeez, for allegedly subjecting the 14-year-old girl, who had been employed as a domestic helper, to severe torture.

The harrowing incident came to light when the victim was shifted to a hospital in Lahore with serious injuries, with the family accusing Judge Asim Hafeez’s wife of torturing the child.
The case was registered at the Police Station Humak on a complaint of the girl’s father, Manga Khan, under Section 506 (committing the offence of criminal intimidation) and Section 342 (wrongfully confining a person) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
As per the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant had sent his underage daughter to work as a domestic helper on a monthly salary of Rs10,000, with the reference of an acquaintance named Chaudhry Mukhtar, seven months ago.
The girl’s parents came to know about her being subjected to torture at the judge’s house on Monday when they went to meet her.
