Toshakhana Case 2: Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi bail plea rejected

£190 million case

ISLAMABAD: The bail applications of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, have been rejected in the Toshakhana 2 case.

The hearing took place at Adiala Jail, where special judge Shah Rukh Arjumand announced the verdict.

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were represented by their lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, while the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) prosecutor, Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi, appeared with his team in the Toshakhana Case 2.

The judge rejecting the bail applications of Imran Khan and Bushra Bbi has set October 2 as the date of indictment.

The new Toshakhana reference against the couple came to the fore after NAB arrested them shortly after a district and sessions court in Islamabad acquitted Khan and Bushra in the iddat case — also known as the un-Islamic nikah case — which was the last hurdle in the couple’s release from jail.

The rejection of their bail request is another legal blow to the PTI leadership, which is already facing multiple legal challenges.
