GUJRAT: Four individuals, including three transgender persons, have been detained for their involvement in an attack on Kharian police station.

Reportedly, the transgenders, despite reaching an agreement with law enforcement regarding the purported mistreatment of one of their community members, launched an assault on Saddar police station in Kharian, Gujrat.

The incident unfolded subsequent to a confrontation between police officers and a transgender individual named Hira, alongside her male companion, during a stop-and-search operation in Kharian.

A verbal dispute ensued, culminating in the purported detainment of Hira and her companion at the police station, where they allegedly faced physical assault before being released.

In retaliation, a cohort of transgender individuals congregated at the police station, causing damage to property and forcibly hauling officials. Additionally, they appropriated certain items from the premises.

Eyewitnesses narrate scenes of chaos as demonstrators hurled projectiles, vandalised property, and displaced furniture onto the streets.

Responding to the situation, District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Asad Muzaffar initiated immediate action, mandating the formation of a high-level inquiry committee spearheaded by SP Investigation.

Moreover, he affirmed the registration of a case against police personnel implicated in the alleged assault of transgender individual Hira.
