Travel advisory issued as snow piles on in Murree

RAWALPINDI: The District administration has issued a travel advisory as the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts more rain and snowfall over the weekend in Murree and surrounding areas.

According to the Met Office, snowfall and rain will continue till January 6 in Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas.

In view of the weather conditions, the district administration has advised travellers and tourists to plan their visits to the Murree and Galiyat areas after getting a thorough weather report from electronic, print and social media before traveling.

Weather-related diseases rise to alarming levels in Gilgit-Baltistan

The local administration as well as the traffic police have been put on high alert to facilitate the tourists. Service centres have been set up at 13 places in Murree for tourists’ guidance.

Meanwhile, to cope with the influx of tourists over the weekend, the City Traffic Police have stationed around 200 traffic wardens to maintain smooth traffic flow.

Murree’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Mughees Ahmad Hashmi, emphasised strict compliance with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Inspector General of Police, and the Additional Inspector General of Traffic Police.
