WEB DESK: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is set to meet US President Donald Trump today for a luncheon, the White House spokesperson announced.
The event, to be held in the Cabinet Room, will also include a key meeting between President Trump and Field Marshal, focusing on bilateral discussions.
The COAS arrived in the US recently and engaged with the diaspora community of Pakistan. Addressing them on Tuesday, he said that overseas Pakistanis are playing a positive role for boosting the positive image of the country.
According to ISPR, the overseas Pakistanis warmly received Field Marshal Asim Munir during his official visit to the US, and dubbed the community, as the “true ambassadors” of the country.

In his address, he praised the economic, social, and international contributions of overseas Pakistanis. He said that Pakistanis living abroad not only support the national economy through remittances but also play a key role in investment and other sectors.
The visit follows Trump’s mediation of May’s Pak-India war which led to Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos as Pakistan downed six Indian jets. After brokering the May 10 ceasefire, Trump now proposes Kashmir mediation. Both nations are now globally campaigning their conflict narratives, making COAS Munir’s White House talks pivotal for regional stability.
India, on the other hand, has been vehemently against the involvement of US as a mediator, and made this clearer today during India Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 35-minute long telephonic conversation.
India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Wednesday that India will not accept third-party mediation of relations with Pakistan.
Meanwhile according to Live Mint, India’s Congress party has attacked PM Modi over his silence regarding the Trump-Munir White House meeting, calling it a diplomatic failure amid ongoing Kashmir tensions.
