TV anchor Noorul Arfeen Siddiqui attacked

KARACHI: A group of 20 to 25 unidentified masked men brutally tortured a private TV anchorperson Noorul Arfeen Siddiqui in Karachi.

A video of Siddiqui has surfaced on social media in which he described the details of the sudden attack. In the video, Siddiqui, standing with support in a severely injured condition, recounted that on Sunday evening, 20 to 25 people wearing black face masks stormed his house, dragged him outside, and brutally tortured him in Khokhrapar area of Malir.

The police said they have shifted Siddiqui to a hospital for medical treatment.

The police, however, said the TV anchorperson was injured in a scuffle. Local DSP and SHO have been rushed to the crime scene, the police added.

Siddiqui further said that the attackers were masked, making identification impossible. He said the assailants beat him severely, breaking one of his legs.

He has appealed to the IG Sindh, the governor, and the chief minister to find and arrest the attackers.
