UK Police warn of serious threat to Sharif family

Nawaz Sharif's family threat

LONDON: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members in London have been warned by local police about a serious threat of a violent attack from unidentified individuals, sources revealed.

According to reliable security sources quoted by Geo TV, the West Midlands Police alerted the London Metropolitan Police about the potential threat, based on intelligence monitoring.

Detectives from Scotland Yard visited the Sharif family’s Avenfield apartments to inform them of the threat and issued safety guidelines.

The police advised the family to remain vigilant and cautious in their movements but did not disclose the origin or individuals behind the threat.

Sources noted that the intelligence report cited the West Midlands Police as its source. Officials assured the Sharif family that necessary measures have been taken to address the threat.

The situation follows the arrest of activist Gulfam Hussain two weeks ago outside the Avenfield flats. Hussain, arrested on a complaint by PML-N Youth Wing leader Khurram Butt, is now on bail and prohibited from approaching the property. His arrest reportedly ties to threats issued during live TikTok broadcasts by a Birmingham-based group.

While Hussain visited the apartments in person, others only issued threats online. Hussain has denied the allegations, and police are investigating the matter further using video evidence.

Most Sharif family members no longer reside in London, having relocated to Pakistan. Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan in November 2023 after nearly three years in exile.

Hussain Nawaz now primarily lives in Saudi Arabia, although his wife and children remain in London. Hasan Nawaz and other family members, including Nawaz’s youngest daughter and son-in-law Ali Dar, have settled in Lahore.

Zayd Hussain, Nawaz Sharif’s grandson, recently got married in Lahore.
