PESHAWAR: As the weather intensifies with the onset of Summer, residents of Peshawar are experiencing intensified and unannounced load shedding, significantly disrupting daily life.

Sunday weather report: extreme heat with thundershowers expected

In the inner city, the duration of power outages has reached up to six to seven hours. Neighbourhoods such as Hashtnagri, Nishtarabad, Gulbahar, Ganj, and Yakkatoot are particularly affected, facing up to 7 hours of load shedding daily.

The situation is even more dire in the city’s suburbs. Areas including Kohat Road, Badaber, Masho Gagar, Musazai, and Mattani are enduring power cuts exceeding 10 hours, as reported by local citizens.

According to a spokesperson from the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), the extended load shedding is primarily occurring in regions with high line losses. Additionally, some areas are experiencing outages due to ongoing repair work.

The spokesperson also noted that areas where residents consistently pay their bills in full are subject to minimal load shedding.
