University official suspended on harassment charges

ISLAMABAD: A case of alleged harassment of female students has surfaced at the Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro.

The university has suspended an IT department assistant on charges of harassing female students.

A group of female students filed a written complaint against the official, accusing him of abuse of power and harassment. University Vice-Chancellor Dr Taha Hussain has formed a three-member committee to investigate the matter and submit a report.

The committee headeb by Prof Dr Mukhtiar Ali Unar, and consisting of Arshad Memon and Dr Uzmi has started investigation and has recorded the statements of the complainants and collected evidence. The accused official is yet to record his statement.

According to university officials, the statement of the suspended assistant will also be recorded.
