Vandalism at district education office in Peshawar, minister directs action

Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Provincial Education Minister Faisal Khan Tarakai has responded swiftly to an incident of vandalism at the District Education Officer’s (DEO) office in Peshawar.

The act, linked to Tehsil Mathra Chairman, involved threats and damage to government property. In light of the incident, Minister Tarakai has requested a detailed report from the Secretary of Education, condemning the act and stating that such behaviour towards government officials is unacceptable across the board.

Tarakai reiterated that preventing such incidents is a top priority for the government and underscored the importance of providing security to officers. He urged elected representatives to resolve their issues through proper channels rather than resorting to violence.

He noted that problems can be addressed by contacting relevant authorities, including himself, rather than taking the law into one’s own hands.

The situation escalated after a heated exchange between a close aide of the Chief Minister and an education officer over teacher transfers.

The Tehsil Mathra Chairman allegedly threatened the District Education Officer while vandalising the office. However, with the intervention of provincial government, an agreement has been reached. Both the DEO and the Tehsil Mathra Chairman have now resolved their differences, signing an agreement and agreeing to move forward without further conflict.
