Weather forecast: Rain predicted for today

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department issuing a weather forecast for Thursday has predicted it will rain in most cities from today including Islamabad.

A new rain system will enter Pakistan today due to which rains have been predicted in most of the districts of Punjab.

According to the PDMA, widespread rainfall is predicted in most districts of Punjab, with the possibility of strong winds and thunderstorms lasting until October 1.

The cities expected to be affected include Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, and Lahore.

These areas are likely to experience cloudy skies accompanied by gusty winds and heavy rain.

DG PDMA Irfan Kathia has directed the local administration across the province to be on alert and that rescue organizations including 1122 and others should keep their staff on alert.

Irfan Kathia said that drainage of water from low-lying areas should be done as soon as possible. People should stay away from dirty houses and dilapidated buildings and children should not go near the water accumulated in low-lying areas.
