Weather forecast: rain, snow, and occasional hail predicted in coming days

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a weather advisory predicting rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall over northern Pakistan February 17 to February 21.
A “strong westerly wave” is expected to approach western parts on February 17 and may affect upper and central parts of Pakistan from February 18 onwards.
In Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, rainfall with some snowfall in the mountains are expected. Areas in Gilgit-Baltistan expected to experience rain and snow include Astore, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghizer, Ghanche, Shigar, and Diamir.
Meanwhile, in Kashmir, Neelum Valley, Poonch, Bagh and Muzaffarabad are expected to experience rainfall with occasional hailstorm.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to experience similar weather, particularly in Chitral, Swat, Abbottabad, Peshawar, and other districts.
In Punjab and Islamabad, areas such as Murree, Islamabad, and Lahore are likely to experience moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorm and occasional snowfall during the mentioned period.
Balochistan is also expected to receive rain, wind, and snowfall in specific areas.
Meanwhile, dry weather with strong winds is forecasted in southern parts of Sindh for coming few days. Sukkur will experience minimum temperatures between 24 Celsius to 30 Celsius.
Weather warning
PMD has warned of potential disruptions due to heavy rain and snowfall, including road closures in mountainous regions like Murree, Naran, Kaghan, and others.

Landslides are also a possibility in part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Wind and thunderstorms can damage electric poles which will impact electricity in the affected areas.
Tourists visiting northern areas are advised to exercise caution and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
Lahore temperature forecast for February 17
The temperature in Lahore on February 17 will remain chilly at 11 Celsius, with a maximum of 25 Celsius expected later. Meanwhile, wind speeds are recorded at 2 kilometre per hour. Air humidity currently stands at 73 per cent.
