Weather outlook: Rain in sight for Islamabad


Light rain predicted in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The federal capital, Islamabad, is expected to see partly cloudy skies today, with a chance of afternoon rain or thunderstorms, while the weather outlook for the rest of the country is hot and dry.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted a 50 per cent chance of rain, with thunder and lightning, in Islamabad and adjoining areas during evening hours.

Rain is also expected in Balochistan’s Zhob, Musa Khel, Barkhan, Qila Saifullah and Loralai districts.

In Punjab, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Talagang and Mianwali may receive rainfall.

Earthquake tremors felt in Islamabad, surrounding region

Showers are also likely in Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, and Gujrat. Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur and nearby areas may experience rain as well.

Light rain is expected at isolated places in Murree, Galiyat and surrounding hilly areas.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain is forecast in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, and Mansehra. Other areas including Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, and Orakzai are also likely to receive rainfall.

Peshawar, Hangu, Kohat, Tank, Karak and adjacent areas may see rain with thunder.

In Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, strong winds and thunderstorms are expected along with rain.

Sindh, South Punjab brace for heat

Meanwhile, the Met Office said a heatwave would continue in most districts of Sindh. Southern Punjab is also likely to remain under intense heat.

According to the weather outlook in parts of Balochistan, the hot weather spell is expected to persist till April 18.
